Every Bangalore Airport Lounge Ranked

From the overcrowded 080 T1 to the incredible Air India Lounge T2. Here's where to spend your wait time at BLR.

22 January 20268 min read

If you fly out of Bangalore, you have options. Not all lounges are equal.

Kempegowda International Airport has transformed significantly since Terminal 2 opened in 2022. The lounge landscape has evolved too. The 080 lounge brand (named after Bangalore's telephone code) now dominates, but not all 080 lounges deliver the same experience.

Here is every lounge at BLR ranked from worst to best, with practical advice on which credit cards get you in.

Quick context: Terminal structure

  • Terminal 1 handles most domestic carriers except Air India and Vistara
  • Terminal 2 handles all international flights plus Air India and Vistara domestic

If you are flying Air India or Vistara domestic, you will be at T2 domestic pier. Everyone else domestic is at T1. All international is T2.

#6: 080 Lounge T1 (Formerly Above Ground Level)

The original BLR domestic lounge, rebranded under the 080 name. This was decent when it first opened. Now it is chronically overcrowded.

  • Location: Terminal 1, airside, opposite Gate 34 area
  • Hours: 24/7

The problem is simple. Every premium credit card with domestic lounge access sends cardholders here. HDFC Regalia, ICICI Sapphiro, Axis Atlas, AU Zenith, IDFC Select. All roads lead to the same 080 lounge.

Peak hours (6-9 AM, 5-8 PM) are brutal. Good luck finding a seat. The food is standard domestic lounge fare: samosas, sandwiches, live counter with pasta and dosas. Adequate but nothing special.

Live counters work. Showers exist if you need them. Wi-Fi is reliable. But the crowd makes it stressful.

My recommendation: Walk further to the east end or use T2 if your airline allows.

#5: 080 Lounge T1 East

Same terminal, walk to the other end.

  • Location: Terminal 1, Level 1, east side

This is the former international lounge space from before T2 opened. It has the same food spread and live counters as the main 080 lounge but with significantly fewer people.

Not sure why more travelers do not walk here. Maybe they do not know it exists. Maybe the extra 5 minutes of walking is too much.

If you are flying from Terminal 1, skip the crowded main lounge and head east. Your blood pressure will thank you.

Access: Same credit cards that work at the main 080 lounge.

#4: 080 Lounge Terminal 2 Departures

Terminal 2 has multiple 080 lounge sections across domestic and international departures.

  • Location: Terminal 2, airside, Level 3 (after security)
  • Hours: 24/7

This is a significant upgrade from T1. The space is larger. The design incorporates Bangalore's "Garden City" theme with botanical elements and local craftsmanship. Multiple seating zones spread the crowd.

The food is better here. Expanded buffet options. More live counter variety. The bar selection is decent. Shower facilities are cleaner and less crowded than T1.

T2 won Condé Nast Traveller's "Best Domestic Airport Lounge" award for good reason.

Cards like HDFC Regalia Gold and HDFC Diners Club Privilege give you access here.

It can still get crowded during peak international departure times (late night when flights to Middle East and Europe depart). But the larger space handles volume better than T1.

#3: Z Lounge Terminal 2

The newest addition to BLR's lounge portfolio.

  • Location: Terminal 2, airside, adjacent to 080 International Lounge, Level 3
  • Hours: 24/7

Z Lounge opened as a sleeker, more minimalist alternative to the 080 spaces. It projects a "modern traveler" vibe with contemporary furniture and cleaner lines.

Amenities include food and soft drinks (no hard alcohol), Wi-Fi, flight monitors, recliners, and spa services (additional charge).

It is less crowded than the 080 lounges because fewer cardholders have access. LoungeKey and Priority Pass work here. American Express Platinum provides access. DragonPass works.

The tradeoff: No alcohol. If you want a pre-flight drink, this is not your lounge. But for coffee, snacks, and a quiet work environment, Z Lounge delivers.

#2: 080 Arrivals Lounge T2

This one is special.

  • Location: Terminal 2, arrivals area (after customs/immigration for international, after baggage claim for domestic)

Very few credit cards provide arrivals lounge access. Most lounge benefits are designed for departures. The arrivals lounge targets a different use case: you have just landed, you need to freshen up, and you want a comfortable space before heading into the city.

Cards that typically provide arrivals lounge access:

  • HDFC Biz Black
  • Bob Eterna
  • Some premium invite-only cards

Because of limited card eligibility, you will often have the place to yourself. Same quality food as the departure lounges. Zero crowds.

The arrivals lounge is genuinely useful after long-haul flights. Take a shower, have breakfast, respond to emails, and head to your meeting looking human instead of jet-lagged.

If your card offers arrivals lounge access, use it.

#1: Air India Maharaja Lounge T2

Not just the best lounge at Bangalore. One of the best lounges in India.

  • Location: Terminal 2, domestic pier, right side as you head up to the 080 lounge area

Air India opened this dedicated lounge in 2024 as part of their hub expansion in Bangalore. It occupies the space formerly known as Qila (the premium paid lounge).

The experience is noticeably different from credit card lounges. Apron views of the runway. Gorgeous interiors that feel like a proper lounge rather than a waiting room.

The food is on another level. This is not reheated samosas and packaged sandwiches. Proper restaurant-quality Indian and continental meals. Fresh preparations. Attention to presentation.

Service is attentive. Staff proactively refills drinks and clears plates. The entire atmosphere signals "premium airline lounge" rather than "credit card overflow space."

Who can access Air India Lounge?

  • Air India Business Class passengers
  • Air India domestic flying Gold/Platinum Flying Returns members
  • Star Alliance Gold tier passengers flying AI or Vistara
  • Maharaja Club members

Credit cards alone do not get you in. You need airline status or premium cabin ticket.

If you hold Star Alliance Gold through any carrier (Singapore Airlines, Thai, Lufthansa, United, etc.) and are flying Air India or Vistara from Bangalore, you can use this lounge. It is worth timing your booking to ensure eligibility.

How to get lounge access

Most premium cards give you domestic lounge access. The difference is which lounges and how many visits.

Cards like HDFC Infinia and Diners Club Black give unlimited domestic and international lounge access. You can visit every day if you travel that frequently.

Mid-tier cards (Regalia Gold, Marriott Bonvoy, Diners Club Privilege) typically cap it at 4-12 visits per year. Some require minimum quarterly spend to activate the benefit.

For international lounges, Priority Pass matters. Cards like Amex Platinum Travel waive the Priority Pass membership fee but charge per visit. Cards like HDFC Infinia and Diners Club Black include Priority Pass with unlimited free visits.

The practical recommendation

If flying from Terminal 1: Walk to 080 East. Skip the main crowded lounge.

If flying Air India or Vistara from T2 domestic: Check if you qualify for the Air India Maharaja Lounge. If yes, use it. If no, use 080 T2 Departures.

If flying international: 080 International or Z Lounge depending on whether you want alcohol with your wait.

If arriving on a long-haul flight: Check if your card has arrivals lounge access. If yes, use it for the shower and breakfast.

The takeaway

Next time you are at Bangalore airport, skip the obvious choices. Walk a bit further. Find the quieter spots.

Your wait time should be relaxing, not stressful. Knowing which lounges are overcrowded and which are hidden gems makes a meaningful difference to your travel experience.
